Coming of Age
A Selection of Work from the Past 20 Years

This exhibition developed from a proposal to Wicklow Co. Co. Arts Office for an open submission exhibition for Wicklow artists only to have a solo show. My proposal was for an exhibition of work selected from my practice over the past twenty (or so...) years. In fact, it proved a difficult endeavour to sift through extant works available, as I realised that I had destroyed large amounts of work over the years, especially in preparation for large moves across the ocean...

In any case, I wanted both a comprehensive and concise show, which gave a look in at some of my work and its development. The exhibition shows how earlier themes and methods are reworked, built upon, or deviated from! For this exhibition I focused on my painting and works on paper with a total of 29 works exhibited, so in fact periods and styles of working are not even touched upon (temporary, site-specific, and sculptural work) - but that is for another day!

The images to the left represent a number of works in this exhibition which have not previously been exhibited. In addition, other works from particular bodies (Works on Paper, Early Work, My Tower of Strength, Blessings) are represented as are a number of more recent pieces such as Patsy's Pears, The Happiest Day (diptych on canvas), and finally, some large wall space on which to exhibit There She Goes!
