These paintings work with the theme of The Sacred and are informed by historical, mythical, & emotional responses to sacred places. Structurally based upon windows of both ecclesiastic & secular ruins, there is an inherent sexuality wich is important to my belief that The Sacred exists in the body as well as the soul.

The "window" may be loaded with plenty of archetypal & personal meaning, but it is the actual rebuilding of architecture in paint which enhances the magic of these places for me. The collective title of this body of work is derived from the Latin motto on my family coat of arms: Turris Fortis Mihi Deus (i.e., God is my tower of strength).

The earliest of these paintings, completed in 1992 were first exhibited as part of a group exhibition "Me & Nine Others" at Cedar Ridge Creative Centre, Scarborough (Canada) in March/April 1992.
